Wind-Driven Fire Pushes Toward Structure In Pacheco Sunday

SHARE

A wildfire in Martinez believed to have gotten its start in a homeless encampment was almost extinguished before it jumped the lines and started a more intense second fire that burned right up to a county building on Arnold Drive on Sunday. Flames were higher than the three story roof. The blaze is currently being mopped up between Hwy4 and Arnold Drive. No injuries reported. Videographer: Craig Cannon

  1. This fire really drained the dept.
I was surprised that the closest water tender was at station 44. Whatever happened to water tender 5?
Why not place one at station 12?
While I know that the fire was in LRA , Local responsibility area, and not SRA , state responsibility area, I was surprised that they did not contact pd or calfire for water drops .
If station 12 is never going to be restaffed and we know it’s not.
The county should think about opening it to the housed.
