An ad hoc team of uniformed and plainclothes Concord PD officers cobbled together to address the retail theft problem sweeping the city and businesses Bay Area-wide found the work rewarding at a local Ulta Beauty outlet recently – arresting 7 people allegedly stealing from the store in just 5 hours.
Details of the operation posted to the Concord PD Facebook page did not specify the date of the arrests.
Officers from Concord’s Patrol, Financial Crimes and Traffic units joined forces for the operation, recovering approximately $6,591 worth of stolen goods and promising that future operations were planned.
Those arrested during a five hour window at the store included:
Veronica Fiore, 28 of Walnut Creek. Arrested for shoplifting burglary.
Karanbir Doel, 31, out of Concord and Placer County. Arrested for grand theft and an outstanding felony warrant also for theft out of Placer County.
Anthony Russell, 25, of Antioch. Arrested for shoplifting burglary, conspiracy and possession of stolen property.
Tatiyana Slater, 24, of Antioch. Arrested for shoplifting burglary, conspiracy and possession of stolen property.
Ranelle Tabitha Rubino, 38, Concord. Arrested for shoplifting burglary and violation of probation (probation for theft).
Fredrick Long, 65, transient, of Concord. Arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
A 16 year old juvenile (name withheld) was arrested for shoplifting burglary.

65 year old transient with a crack pipe at Ulta is a pretty strong tell that something is amiss.

Morning, Anne… we believe the PD stopped several suspects, mostly young and some with stolen items allegedly in their possession. Apparently they dispersed after the theft so it was difficult to get a hard count of those arrested.
