A single-vehicle car crash claimed a family of four on Foothill Road in Pleasanton, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.
The crash occurred near Stoneridge Drive at approximately 9 pm Wednesday night. Crews were dispatched to the area of Foothill and Moller Ranch Drive at 9:09 p.m. with reports of a vehicle overturned and burning in that area.
Multiple ambulances were requested with additional reports of victims being dragged from the vehicle and life-saving measures undertaken – it was not immediately known by who. The car reignited multiple times during the recovery operation, police said.
The stretch of road was closed for investigation until 7:20 a.m. Thursday. The family has not yet been identified as police as still notifying next of kin, but police say they believe two children of elementary and middle school age were killed.
I fear young people are involved.
