We were on the way to this as it was happening today, Wednesday, but our photographer was outmaneuvered along with the police, apparently, when the driver of this car opted for the Crazy Ivan evasive driving technique and started driving the wrong way on the freeway.
Lafayette PD broke off. Our guy broke off. But the guy at the wheel of a car reportedly carjacked at gunpoint earlier was briefly reacquired later on westbound Highway 24 where he was spotted entering the Caldecott Tunnel and shouting “Olly Olly Oxen Free!” and, man, are you showing your age if you recognize that phrase.
Our thanks to “Tony K” for sending us the vid and we’re glad everyone got off the road safely despite the evasive maneuvers. Plus, the accompanying piece on the Mountain Gorillas was way interesting!

Once went 24 miles on a pursuit with shots fired after a kidnapping, had to hand it off to CHP. He’s lucky 11R wasn’t nearby.
