Orinda Neighbors Look Up “EOD” After Military Ordnance Turns Up In Local Home

SHARE

Eyebrows lifted skyward in Orinda Monday when a truck carrying a military bomb disposal squad and with EOD painted on its side rolled up to take possession of a rusty old missile located in a local home.

No one in an official capacity was willing to talk on the record but to our untrained eye the blunt-nosed ordnance looked like an inert and therefore totally harmless training round for a 60 mm mortar.

We weren’t allowed to handle it so any closer inspection was impossible, of course.

Input from any former or currently serving “stovepipe soldiers” willing to help with an ID more than welcome, as always.

We’ll just say that the missile was found at a home on Overhill Road and that our photographer wished to express his thanks to neighbors who treated him with humor and kindness while he was on their street.
