It’s rather odd that they aren’t disclosing how or why the mercury is at the train station. I know there is construction going on there, but I’m not sure what process would require using mercury. Maybe someone cleaned a fish from the river at the train station. (Humor).

Simple. Someone dropped a mercury vapor light bulb and it shattered, spreading tiny droplets of mercury. MV lighting is common in commercial settings, especially outdoor lighting, ie parking lots and streets.

Interesting — is there a pound and ahalf of mercury in a vapor light bulb?

Welcome, Alex… and we thank Cmdr. Hurlbut for speaking with us at the scene.

Thanks, Alex – it has been said we have a “Nose for News” (or maybe just a big nose, we may have gotten that wrong) and we will stick with stories we think worthy. In this instance, we give much credit to videographer and veteran newsman Craig Cannon who said he felt there was more to this one from the beginning. Kudos to Craig but don’t tell him we said so… we don’t want him to get a big head.
