A sure indicator that a photographer knows their stuff is their ability to take a relatively normal occurrence and find beauty, composition, a story in their frames.
Sean McDonough did that as firefighters made their way up a ladder to the roof of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Walnut Creek Saturday, searching for the origin of a fire sending smoke into the restaurant.
In the end, there was no major incident and little actual damage, but the moment the crew ascended their ladder and were silhouetted against the roofline – their truck’s colors almost in full display – had an almost Marines on Mt. Suribachi composition to it.
Tip of the fedora to Sean (again) and we’re glad the restaurant wasn’t seriously disrupted or damaged.
I love what looks like a blue stairway. And I didn’t say “to heaven” though I thought about it.
“No Stairway… denied!“
A Ruth-top moment.
No, I hear James Taylor.
