A male student is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder and mayhem while a female fellow student undergoes surgery following a “violent assault” at Northgate High School in Walnut Creek Tuesday.
A 14-year-old girl was reportedly seriously wounded during the attack by a male classmate, who allegedly assaulted her with a sharp implement. Both students are reportedly 9th graders at Northgate and know one another.
The incident was reported shortly after 1 p.m.
The unidentified juvenile suspect was transported to Contra Costa Juvenile Hall and is being held without bail.

Boy upset with a girl he knew stabbed her in the face and neck in anger. Details on the extent of their relationship are not clear. Hearing from students of the possibility of a prior relationship or the boy was rejected. That will become clear. For now prayers go out to the girl.
