The first hardy souls have reached the summit of our landmark mountain, braving limited access and a growing number of fellow climbers who risked the ascent without oxygen or sherpa guide.
First reports are that conditions for snowball fights, snow-person building and sightseeing are very good, with visibility improving and snow proving to be just the right consistency.
