A woman was shot and seriously wounded by a masked gunman who fired several shots before leaving her outside the Mill Creek apartments in the 900 block of Waterstone Place in San Ramon Saturday.
Neighbors reported hearing gunfire at approximately 11 p.m. and responding officers quickly located the wounded person. She was transferred to a local hospital suffering from unspecified wounds but is believed to be recovering.
Forest T. McCaskill, 26-year-old Concord man, was subsequently arrested in Anaheim after investigators focused on him as the chief suspect in the shooting. Police said McCaskill was an ex-boyfriend of the victim.
McCaskill was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder in Anaheim and is currently in custody there pending his return to Contra Costa County.
Earlier today, Feb. 23, the Contra Costa District Attorneys Office filed the following charges against McCaskill:

Yet another disturbing incident our neighborhood. Hoping additional details emerge regarding victim’s condition and suspect’s apprehension. Stay safe and vigilant.

Firestone 11R
Terrifying event in the community. I hope more news comes out and the criminal is caught. God bless the injured woman and may she heal from this. May we all be safe.
It sounds like the guy living at my apts. He, his crew are very combative. Management trying to evict him. & his boyfriend drives a white ford. Like the police car. Would not doubt if related.
Have you informed the police of this so they can investigate if needed? It might be a good idea to just share the possibility because this might prevent future issues (God-forbid there are any problems after this…)
Sounds like a random assault, robbery gone wrong or a disrupted burglary. Far scarier to the public than the occasional targeted attacks out that way.
Don’t believe it was those things. Waiting for additional.
Has anyone received update on the victim?
