Brentwood Man Arrested For Striking, Killing Pedestrian In Walnut Creek – Leaving The Scene

Walnut Creek police announced an arrest in the hit-and-run case which resulted in the death of popular business owner Chung Thuy Lee in the city the evening of October 1.

Arck Marquez Ramirez Jr., 29, of Brentwood, was arrested for allegedly striking Lee as she attempted to cross N. California Boulevard and Civic Drive – then leaving the scene.

Following leads supplied by witnesses and images taken from nearby surveillance cameras, investigators were able to locate the vehicle believed involved in the collision, arresting the driver. The car was impounded by police, they said in a prepared release.

Ramirez was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility with a bail set at $300,000 on the following charges:

    CA Penal Code 191.5(a) – Gross Vehicular Manslaughter
    CA Vehicle Code 20001(a) – Felony Hit and Run with Injury or Death

The case will be presented to the District Attorney for review and a possible filing of charges, according to police.

  1. There really need to be much more serious consequences for people who flee the police than for people who cooperate. Our current system practically begs criminals to make a run for it, the more recklessly the better.

    Committing a crime is one bad decision for which the proper consequences can be weighed. Fleeing the police is a second bad decision which should never be excused or minimized.

  2. Looking at the loser’s FB page, it appears he has several kids. I wonder how he’d feel if someone mowed them down in the street then sped off. People need to be punished severely for their arrogance and selfishness when it leads them to believe they have the right to kill people without consequence to themselves. Unfortunately, our justice system is not quite there.
