“Suspicious Package” Prompts Walnut Creek BART Station Closure

UPDATE: Officials determined that the package was harmless and re-opened the station at about 10:45 a.m.

Original Post:

A suspicious package found in the Walnut Creek BART parking structure prompted closure of the structure and eventually the station Monday, disrupting the commute and forcing commuters onto an established bus bridge bypassing the station.

The incident was reported at approximately 8:15 a.m. and is currently ongoing (9:46 a.m.)

    Sorry to say this, but it was probably homeless – luggage left around the station. I use that station when I go on Bart, and there’s a lot of abandoned shopping carts, often filled is junk, and left out clothes and travel bags, especially in the area where the busses stop.

    Probably left by homeless. Nobody else in a BART commuter lot.
