The second of two men who escaped from the Marsh Creek Detention Facility in Clayton was taken into custody after a traffic stop in Pleasant Hill Thursday morning, sheriff’s officials say.
Jorge Garcia-Escamillia was arrested by Pleasant Hill police during a traffic stop and a subsequent investigation into his identity. He escaped from the minimum security facility center with another man earlier this month.
Garcia-Escamillia, 28, of Pittsburg, was booked back into the detention center with an added charge of escape, in addition to his previous charges. Police did not say, nor do we know if he revealed – what he has been doing since his escape.
Officials said Garcia-Escamillia was being held on charges of vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, and drug possession. He had a future court date in three weeks.
The second escapee, Gerardo Ramirez-Vera, 33, of Richmond, was taken into custody at a Vallejo hotel five days after he escaped.
It was not revealed how the men escaped.
