Blows Exchanged During Interrupted Petty Theft In Moraga Saturday

SHARE

An iPhone owner tussled briefly with a petty thief over their iPhone Saturday, eventually losing the struggle but landing a counterpunch after the thief threw one of his own.

The short but sharp battle took place behind the 500 block of Center Street at about 5:30 p.m. when the phone’s owner startled two men in hoodies attempting to take the device, losing the phone but gaining the would-be thief’s shoe – lost during the struggle. The victim apparently also landed a blow on the thief’s car – described as a newer model, silver Honda Accord.

Information remained thin, though the suspects were described as white males in their 40s or 50s. We’ll have more on this incident should additional details become available.

Moraga police issued an advisory citing the incident on Sunday, acknowledging an increase in the number of car burglaries and thefts from unlocked vehicles. Two vehicles have also been stolen locally, according to police.

  1. Hmmm, what was I saying earlier in the week about Moraga facing big city problems. Time to get a contract with the Sheriff. 108RS

So the phone was left in a vehicle?

  4. Jan 24: “And Moraga needs to get rid of their PD and contract with the Sheriff. The sleepy little village has big city problems coming and it’s six officers are not prepared or trained for it. 108RS”

    • @Jeff – Sounds like you miss law enforcement; just not enough to hold down an actual job.

Remind us, why did you retire from LACSD again?
