Here’s a follow-up to an incident we first Flashed to subscribers on Jan. 8:
On Saturday, January 8, at approximately 5:48 p.m. Danville Police responded to a report of a theft of a purse at Costco, 3150 Fostoria Way in Danville. The victim provided a description of an individual and the license plate of a white Infiniti used by the suspect to flee the area. The victim was not injured but was experiencing pain in her hand from attempting to hold on to her purse containing a wallet, credit cards, and other personal items. The victim was able to put a freeze on all her credit cards.
While Danville officers were on scene with the victim, she received a fraud alert that her cards were being used at Nordstrom in Walnut Creek. Danville officers were able to pass this information to the Walnut Creek Police Department and provide them with the suspect information. Subsequently, Walnut Creek PD was able to detain two suspects inside Nordstrom.
Both suspects had credit cards belonging to the victim in their possession along with purchases worth over $1500 from Nordstrom, made with the victim’s credit cards. Danville Police took custody of the suspects in Walnut Creek. Officers were able to locate the white Infiniti in the Nordstrom parking lot and recover the victim’s purse and other personal property from the vehicle.
The two suspects, Rashanea Boyd, aged 25, from Oakland and Micheala Gospel, aged 26 from Sacramento, were booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for PC 211 – Robbery, PC 182 – Conspiracy, PC 530.5 – Identity Theft, and PC 484(G) – Fraudulent use of Credit Card.
Communication between the two law enforcement agencies paid off. Nice work.
