A crash at Moraga Way and Oak Drive in Orinda balled up traffic on Lamorinda’s already impacted roadways Thursday, sending two drivers to the hospital, trying the patience of afternoon commuters and requiring an extensive cleanup of spilled pool cleaning chemicals.
The crash, a rear-end collision between a VW and a pool service truck, was reported at 2:11 p.m. and quickly stacked up traffic on Moraga Way – a critical entry for access-hampered Moraga. Moraga and Orinda police responded from their respective ends of the crash and immediately attempted to divert traffic around the crash scene, but it was too late for many.
The drivers were taken to local hospitals for treatment of unspecified injuries, their conditions unknown at this hour.
Frustrated residents living along Moraga Way reported being unable to leave their homes due to traffic while others said they were just sitting in the jam or had given up entirely.
A pool service truck. Who could have planned for that?
We sure didn’t think of it…
Just got an email from the owner of Sapphire Pool service. Their truck was totaled after being rear ended but their driver is doing ok with some minor injuries after being taken to the hospital. Hope the other driver is doing ok as well.
Yes, indeed…
