A Livermore High School student was killed and five other teens injured when the pickup they were riding in rolled off Mines Road and down a 200-foot embankment f.
Two of the injured were airlifted to area hospitals while four others were taken for treatment via ambulance, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.
A vigil is planned for the male student killed in the crash. Injuries for the other occupants ranged from major to minor, officials said.
Emergency personnel were alerted to the crash by a witness who picked up a cell phone lost by one of the victims and using it to call for help at 11:25 p.m.
Officers arrived to find the aftermath of the crash at Del Valle Road and Mines with the wreckage of a truck several hundred feet down an embankment.
Hope those involved survive. Clearly a lot of questions to be asked and answered surrounding incident.
How horrible!
One thing I love about my GM car -other than having been absolutely trouble-free – is that the OnStar system will automatically call for police and medical help should I be in a wreck. It would be especially helpful if I were in a solo wreck, with no other people around to have seen it, or if I ran off the road and I was down in a ravine where no one would see.
what were the vehicles ? trying to make sure if it was anyone i know they’re okay.
Photos posting now, Ryan… both seriously damaged, we’re afraid.
Did you guys cover the vigil????
We don’t cover vigils, Andy. It’s a policy of ours.
