Area police descended on the area of Altamount and La Cresta Way in Orinda Monday after receiving reports of a possible interrupted burglary in the neighborhood.
Officers arriving on scene keyed on a suspicious car which fled the area at high speeds, using the road shoulder to evade traffic before eventually crashing in the area of Moraga Way and Altamount – hitting a fire hydrant in the process.
The damaged Nissan and hydrant were quickly sealed off by a Moraga police officer.
A perimeter was established as officers searched for the suspect, described as a black male, thin, with dreadlocks and no shirt.
Orinda police requested that neighbors living in the area remain inside, locking their doors. The suspect, who was not identified, was found hiding in a small outbuilding later in the day and taken into custody.

Or an Uber! Witnesses say he was carrying his shoes as he was running through the neighborhood… no sign of a phone. But you never know!
Well that got the old heart going!! My word. Thanks for all the messages – they helped.
He’s lucky that I did not find him. 108RS
Whoa…
When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.
