Motorists on westbound SR-4 notified officials of a serious injury accident at the Alhambra Avenue off ramp shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday.
Officers determined that a 2007 black Toyota Camry had been driven off the roadway and collided into heavy brush and trees at the off ramp. An adult female passenger was ejected from the Toyota and suffered major injuries. She was transported to a local hospital, according to the CHP.
The driver, a 21-year-old woman from San Pablo, was also ejected during the crash – incurring fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased by medical personnel on scene.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision , according to the CHP. If anyone witnessed this collision or the events leading up to it and have not spoken yet with CHP, please contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez, (925) 646-4980.
The area has seen a number of damaging and fatal crashes in recent weeks.

Agree, but it didn’t sound like they were on the off ramp. I read the article as that’s the approx. already of hwy 4 where they crashed
They weren’t exiting. The car came to rest on the embankment, between the exit and the freeway.

It did’t roll. She dripped it out of the slow lane down the dirt and hit the first tree but she hit it so hard that the engine was actually up on the freeway

How fast were they going? Guessing they weren’t wearing seat belts?? Lot of force needed to eject someone from their car in a crash.
Even the engine flew out of the car
