Two people died and two others were injured in a fiery collision on southbound Interstate 680 in San Ramon early Sunday.
Investigators said a Volkswagen Jetta traveling south on I-680 north of Alcosta Boulevard went off the roadway, crossing all lanes before swerving back and colliding with the center median.
The incapacitated Jetta was struck by a Ford Fiesta, resulting in major damage to both cars and starting a fire that engulfed the Jetta, overcoming two people trapped inside. A third person in the Jetta suffered major injuries and the driver of the Fiesta sustained moderate injuries, according to the CHP. Both were taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
The crash closed the freeway for more than an hour.
2021 fatal MVA in our “neighborhood”…sounds like a reprise of 2020.
We had hoped not, Jeff, but it was not to be.
Another one. We seem to be back on the roads again.
