From Danville PD:

Danville Police this morning arrested two individuals in connection with the attempted theft of a police department bait bike.

At approximately 7:52 am, Danville Police Detectives were alerted via the Bait Bike GPS system that someone was tampering with the bike located near the intersection of Hartz and Railroad Avenues. An undercover detective responded and watched two suspects (a male and female) talking near the bike. The male was in a 2010 white Nissan 370Z convertible. The female suspect quickly cut the lock on the bike, placed the lock and cutters in the Nissan, and rode off. Uniformed officers were nearby and took both into custody.

The suspects are identified as:
Andrea Larson, 41, Hayward
Marion Straley, 49, Hayward

The suspects were booked into the Martinez Detention Center on the following charges:

Larson: Grand theft, conspiracy to commit theft, probation violation, and possession of burglary tools.
Straley: Grand theft, conspiracy to commit theft, probation violation, driving on an expired license.

The community is reminded to always take care to lock their bicycles when leaving them, and use a good lock.

  2. If Hayward residents can be in Danville before 8:00 a.m. with all that traffic, they can be headed to work at that hour. Get a job.

  3. Well done! Bike recovered as Rome burns. It makes me wonder just how many bike stories are still out there to be covered.
