After a nervous night on the lookout for signs of active fire in the 24/680, local firefighters responded to a home on Santa Fe Avenue in Martinez early Thursday after fire was reported in the attic of the residence at 6:41 a.m.
Occupants of the residence evacuated safely as calls for assistance began to come in from 1321 Santa Fe, firefighters arriving on the scene met by heavy smoke from inside. Four people were ultimately displaced – all adults.
No estimate of damage or cause was given as firefighters remain at the scene Thursday (8:30 a.m.) salvaging household belongings.
