There were a few anxious moments for homeowners Thursday when a stubborn grass fire brewed up between Reliez Valley and Rancho View Drive in Lafayette, prompting road closures and quick action to protect homes in the area but no evacuations or injuries.
The blaze was reported out at around 4 p.m.
Reported at 3:14 p.m., the fire touched off a callout for fire units to protect homes in the 1400 block of Rancho View but there were no immediate reports of damage.
Reliez Valley Road was closed at Pleasant Hill and Silver Dell to facilitate access to the fire by apparatus. Rancho View was also closed to through traffic at Pleasant Hill Road. Roads were reopening as this was written (4:23 p.m.)
