Orinda police are searching for a second suspect who allegedly attempted to burglarize a home on Tahos Road this afternoon.

Residents have noted the presence of an East Bay Regional Park District police helicopter overhead as well as several officers searching the area on foot. Canine teams have also been called on to assist with the search.

The search is ongoing as this is written (2:10 p.m.) and we will not be posting police positions as they maneuver.

The Orinda Police Department has asked the general public to avoid the area if possible.

UPDATE: The search was ultimately declared unsuccessful and police left the area. The suspect remains at large.

Someone said the burglars are working areas where they know the power has been turned off so there are no alarms???

???? Alarm systems have battery backups. Otherwise, they would not be reliable, and we wouldn’t be paying $50 per month. Plus there is always the low-tech, fail-safe of a baseball bat. It works whether the lights are on or not. In fact it works better in semi- darkness.
