Teen Seriously Injured By Older Youth In Concord Knife Attack; Arrest Made

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for a knife attack on a younger boy in a Bel Air Drive apartment Thursday, the victim airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of multiple stab wounds.

The attack occurred just before 2 p.m., with investigators saying three male teenagers, two of whom are siblings, were playing video games inside an apartment at that time when, for reasons still unknown, one of the brothers produced a large hunting knife and stabbed their visitor at least eight times, police said.

Minutes later, workers at a Dairy Queen restaurant across the street from the apartment complex reported seeing a youth, his clothing in disarray, rush into the restaurant bathroom. Concord police officers arrived moments later to take the youth into custody.

The police and medical response to the incident prompted a brief lockdown at nearby Clayton Valley Charter High School – which provided its sports fields as a landing area for an incoming air ambulance.

Parents of the victim’s classmates received this message from a school official after the attack:

Good Morning Pleasant Hill Families and Friends,

This is Ms. X (name removed for relevancy) and I want to share with you an incident involving one of our students. The incident occured (sic) off campus and is in no way related to the school, but it is making its way through social media and the news.

You may have seen a report about a young man who was stabbed while playing video games with two other teens. This victim is one of our students. The suspect in this incident did turn himself into police and has been arrested. While privacy laws prevent us from sharing further details about the incident or the student’s condition, we have been in touch with his family to offer our support and they have given us permission to share that he is doing all right.

We fully understand that this incident may be very troubling for our students. We have made counseling available for students here on campus for anyone who would like to talk to someone about what they are thinking or feeling, and we are specifically reaching out to those students in his friend group. We continue to send our best thoughts to he and his family. Please feel free to contact me or anyone in the office if you have questions or concerns.
