A suspected mail raider chose the wrong neighborhood and method of conveyance when he ventured into Lafayette on his bicycle Monday – ending up in handcuffs a short while after he was reportedly observed picking through residents’ mail.
Officers descended on a man in his 30s who was apparently attempting to pedal away from the Los Pallos neighborhood after picking through mailboxes in the area, arresting him on Reliez Station Road at Olympic Boulevard at about 1:55 p.m.
Officers reportedly recovered several pieces of mail at the time of the arrest, taking him into custody on suspicion of identity theft and possession of stolen property.
