Two men suspected of the attempted abduction of a Lafayette woman as she walked to Lafayette BART from Mt. Diablo Boulevard Tuesday were stopped and detained by Pittsburg police as they were riding in a car on State Route 4 early Wednesday morning.

The men, whose names were not immediately provided, were stopped while riding in a car associated with the brazen crime. The pair have been sought by Lafayette police investigators since the incident early Tuesday morning incident and were detained in a guns-drawn, “high-risk” stop by Pittsburg police officers at approximately 4:15 a.m.

Lafayette Police Chief Benjamin Alldritt extended his thanks to colleagues in Pittsburg for their part in helping bring the case to a conclusion.

The suspect arrested after interviews Wednesday was identified as 19-year-old Jordan Andrew Wilson of Pittsburg.

In a prepared release, police said Wilson was in the vehicle stopped by Pittsburg Police in their city at approximately 4:20 a.m. After further investigation, Wilson was arrested and taken to Lafayette PD for questioning by detectives, after which he was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on kidnapping and conspiracy charges.

  1. That was fast. The fact that they were out at 4:15 a.m. (again) – I doubt they were on their way to work. Probably under the influence of whatever and looking for more victims. Stay safe ladies…

  2. Thank you Lafayette and Pittsburg PD. Hope these guys don’t see the light of day for awhile, but that’s up to our courts..

Curious if the suspects have recent convictions that would have them still incarcerated in any other state. CA courts have been letting out dangerous criminals on early release/bail/parole/probation etc and putting the public at risk.. Standing by for names and mugshots

  3. The early morning riders are at risk, whether near the station or on a train. But the bigger question is, has violent crime increased in this area, or are we better at spotting it and reporting it (thanks to cell phones and surveillance cameras)? I always felt very safe in Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda. Between the home invasions, retail crime, and the other crimes against people, I am less sure. High time all of these towns beefed to their law enforcement presence. Stop worrying about speeding tickets and loud parties, and go back to beat cops on the street.

  4. It would be interesting to hear more about how this pair operates. There is video out there of people standing at the curb with phones and electronics being robbed by people who simply drive up and take what is in their hands.

  5. Really frightening. Very happy to hear this woman was able to fight these animals off. I hope they are prosecuted to the full law.

  6. The Police are doing a wonderful job! They are doing what they can. But who they arrest are usually let free right away. I’d almost want to give up. But the cops keep a lid on it as best they can!
Crime this area is increasing due to Gov Brown letting so many criminals out of jail early/ or judges not sending criminals to jail in the first place. The criminals are getting very bold now, coming to Lamorinda area from the other side of tunnel, and the Pittsburg /Antioch area to ply their trades. Don’t believe me? Almost every crime committed here are by those on parole from jail, or with outstanding warrants for their arrests for previous crimes they were arrested for/ let loose under.

  7. The laws of the state of California are NOT helping protect us from thugs like this. Propositions 47(reducing certain felonies to misdemeanors) & 57(release of non-violent prisoners), along with the new SB 10(reducing bail requirements) are basically a get out of jail free card for a lot of bad actors. I know it makes our legislators feel all warm and fuzzy inside but they are putting a bigger burden on local law enforcement and compromising the safety of residents. Any one else notice lately the spike in car break ins, home burglaries, shoplifting, package thieves, homelessness, etc?

    • Every time I see such a sentiment posted, I feel compelled to share the actual statistics that have been tracked so far.

There is some statistical evidence that property crimes have increased after Prop 47, although it’s hard to measure the impact because property crime rates were already at a historical low. The data does not support any assertion that violent crime rates have increased.

As for SB 10, it’s early on but we do know that money bail does disproportionately affect lower income people.

Emotional reactions are exactly that, emotional. Policy and law should not be driven by it. An attempted kidnapping is a horrible incident, and the police should be lauded for their quick response and possible identification of the perpetrators. But let’s stay rational about the best way to address crime on a holistic level.

  8. Out again the next morning — in the same car. They didn’t happen to find a couple of masks in there did they?

  9. Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. It’s The Rule of Law, Expletive Deleted! And, if this be ‘Merica, we have no king!

  10. Glad we’re finally calling this what it was. I saw “battery incident” and thought they were stealing AAAs from the drugstore.

    • LPD is notorious for improperly addressing the nature/legal title of crimes….in the past they’ve not even been able to identify legal vs legal firearms, nor do they return property when they are found to be in error…..Glad Pittsburg PD did the job.

      • Really? What do you mean? I thought their initial report of this incident was a little confusing because it seemed IN MY OPINION to be a kidnapping or attempted kidnapping but I thought they must have had a reason for it. And again in m opinion they seem to be pretty aggressive when it comes to finding those here to rip us off.

  11. was the stop at 4:15/4:20 AM or PM?? I see both in the article. When did the attempted abduction occur? If you know. It seems unlikely that someone was headed for BART at 4:15 am when the trains aren’t running.

    • Where are you hearing/reading p.m.? Wasn’t this an “early Tuesday morning?” And people do walk/drive/ride that early to catch an early train. You must be retired or a “non-BART” person. People are out at 4:30 a.m. – usually to catch the first train to SF. Those who don’t like to rush.

      • David picked up on a “printer’s devil” from an earlier version of events and will not have to get his eyes checked. We, on the other hand, have signed up for Lasik. As for the timing on this, the assault/attempted abduction took place at 4:13 AM with the car stop occurring at 4:30 AM the following morning. People are out at that hour as you point out and it was noted that the two suspects were also out and about at that time…

        • He may not have to get his eyes checked, but if he doesn’t realize that people are out that early heading for work, he’s had an easier “employment ride” than the rest of us. Must be nice…
