Two men found dead in a trailer parked at the Ranch House property at Moraga Way and School Street Monday were identified by coroner’s deputies Wednesday as brothers Gary Armstrong, 67, and Richard Armstrong, 65.
Moraga police said there were no signs of a struggle, no trauma was observed on either person nor has any evidence of carbon monoxide poisoning been discovered. Although autopsies have been conducted on both men, the causes of death are pending toxicology results and further investigation.
The two men, both of Moraga, were discovered by a third individual who reported the deaths at nearby Moraga Orinda Fire Station 41 around 4:30 p.m. Responding firefighters determined that the pair had succumbed and police sealed off the area for investigation.
It was not immediately known if the person who carried the news of the fatalities had escaped the trailer or had merely discovered the bodies during a routine visit.
Associates and workers on the site, which houses old ranch equipment and some trailers, said Gary Armstrong helped maintain the property and did odd jobs there.
How awful. RIP
Some sort of heater in there?? It has been so cold. Our sympathies and prayers.
I didn’t know people lived back in there.
Awful. Our sympathies.
Terrible. Didn’t know people lived back in there.
Were these caretakers of the Ranch? Who takes care of the cats in the “cat house” across from Safeway?
@Chuck – We were told at least one of them men did odd jobs around the property. Not sure about who fed the cats.
At least they were together. We hope their family finds the strength to deal with this loss.
Had no idea people lived back in there.
Drove past on my way into town yesterday and said a prayer. We just don’t know what people are living through.
Regarding the cats: No. The cats are taken care of by a woman.
@DeeDee – Thanks, DeeDee! Good to know people are mindful of the chain of life.
Is this Gary Armstrong that graduated from Las Lomas in 1968?
