A pedestrian struck by a passing truck in the area of Moraga Road at Moraga Boulevard Monday died from injuries suffered in that collision.
The victim, identified as Sui Yuen, 60, of Lafayette, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek immediately after the collision occurred at 1:31 p.m., but was later pronounced deceased.
Police said a Ford F150 pick-up truck traveling westbound on Moraga Boulevard apparently struck Yuen, who was in the crosswalk, as the driver was making a left turn onto Moraga Road.
Anyone who may have witnessed this collision or has any information is asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department at (925) 283-3680.
Witness accounts stated that the driver of the involved truck stopped and was cooperating with officers at the scene.
Very sad and tragic. We’re all at risk as pedestrians and drivers, and a sad reminder to be cautious on foot and behind the wheel. Prayers…
I’m surprised noone has been killed sooner.
St marys traffic comes down the hill at 45-50 and maintains it through town despite it being a 25mph.
I think the Lafayette police are excellent but my
only gripe is they never ever police this area coming down moraga rd before st marys and there are thousands of offenders a day. I hope this can change as it sets the tone for people to abuse the 25 all the way to mt diablo.
Because many of the people traveling north on Moraga Road need to get in the right lane to turn on Mt. Diablo, it’s usually jammed at any time of day and speeds at Moraga Blvd. are well under 45 mph, more like 5-10 mph due to congestion and line cutting.
In any event, this pedestrian was struck by a truck that was turning left from westbound Moraga Blvd. onto southbound Moraga Road.
