Stolen Car Prompts Chase On Boyd Road In Pleasant Hill, Ends In Arrests Thursday

SHARE

Neighbors living along Boyd Road in Pleasant Hill got an up close and personal view of police procedure Thursday after an attempt to corral a parolee resulted in a chase, arrests, and recovery of a firearm.

Pleasant Hill Police Sgt. Janayla Pierson confirmed numerous accounts from neighbors and readers in the area around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, saying things kicked off when one of their officers spotted a subject known to be on parole for auto theft and associated crimes in the Safeway parking lot at 707 Contra Costa Blvd.

Police said the man, whose name was not immediately provided, got into a Honda Acura with paper plates and drove out of the lot, a woman passenger with him in the car. A short chase ensued, Pierson said, with the Acura crashing into a mailbox in the 500 block of Boyd Road and the occupants attempting to flee.

The male suspect allegedly jettisoned a handgun after exiting the car, according to Pierson. All three, the car’s occupants and the handgun, were recovered shortly after the crash.
