Detectives from the Special Victims Unit of the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Investigation Division on Monday arrested 36-year-old Rajesh Kumar Singla of Milpitas for multiple counts of sexual assault charges, according to information released by the sheriff’s office.
Investigators said Singla is a family medicine doctor and a member of the John Muir Health physician network with offices at 1450 Treat Boulevard in unincorporated Contra Costa County.
Complaints from a female patient against Singla were reported to the Office of the Sheriff earlier this month. Detectives arrested Singla without incident at his office after receiving an arrest warrant and following additional investigation into the allegations.
Singla was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on two counts of sexual battery, two counts of indecent exposure, and one count of attempted oral copulation. He was being held in lieu of $130,000 bail.
Police said the physician made bail and was released early Tuesday morning. Detectives believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with any information or who believes they are a victim is asked to call detectives at (925) 313-2621. How do these things happen? Arent male on female appointments supervised by female staffers?? Or is that only for gyno appointments?
If proven to be true he should be driven out of the profession of course, and prosecuted.
“Additional victims.” How awful.
Innocent until proven otherwise but if guilty they should really make the penalty worthwhile.
How about we let those women try out the office equipment on him while he’s strapped to a chair?? Just saying.
As a very cautious person, (and a former member of the medical profession) – this is the reason I’ve had female doctors for as long as I can remember. Most male doctors won’t abuse female patients, but why take the chance when you can easily hire your own gender?
Females have abused females as well — lest anyone forget what happened at Joaquin Moraga. And what if this dr. is mentally ill? Shouldn’t that be taken into account?
Tim – to answer your question, when a nurse or assistant is in the room, please keep in mind she’s there to protect the doctor.
I believe in innocent until proven guilty. I also believe that perps should spend time along with their victims when found guilty, with the victims given a chance for a little payback. Having California kill them (which they don’t) or incarcerate them doesn’t seem like justice to me.
