The FBI San Francisco Division is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of a stolen submachine gun, magazines and ballistic vest.

The items were taken from an FBI special agent’s vehicle by an unknown suspect or suspects between 6 p.m., Jan. 8, 2017 and 10 a.m., Jan. 9, 2017 in Concord, Orinda or Lafayette.

Along with the gun the thief or thieves also made off with ammunition and body armor.

The FBI is working with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in an attempt to recover the weapon and accoutrements.

Anyone with information regarding the weapons should call the FBI San Francisco Field Office at 415-553-7400 or visit tips.fbi.gov. Individuals may submit their tips anonymously.

  1. I love law enforcement…. but something seems fishy here: How can her car be burglarized somewhere over the span of 15 hours , and somewhere in three different cities, and not be known at the time? ‘ come on FBI, San Francisco branch.
I sure hope they find this weapon and equipment! I’m sure it would be a prized catch for any dangerous gang or terrorist.

  2. I have a lot of respect for law enforcement too, but this is irresponsible. Sherriff’s office wouldn’t comment on whether or not the doors were unlocked. Sounds like the doors were left unlocked, and the agent is being honest (but clueless as to when or where it happened) until it was discovered missing.

  3. Could the FBI maybe throw in a small reward for the return of my Dionne Warwick 8-track tape that was stolen out my car? I miss it and would like it back. I’m feeling like trying any other music/artist would be pointless because I know I’ll never love this way again.

  4. I continue to think that the intensity of effort (and now money) devoted toward finding this one gun is aimed at minimizing FBI embarrassment and not reducing crime.
