Police are investigating an apparent armed robbery reported at the Rheem Valley Shopping Center Thursday, with a victim saying they were held up by an armed man in a ski mask at the center at around 3:30 p.m.
Details remain sparse as this incident has just been reported. An early description of the suspect, identified as a white male wearing a ski mask and last seen in the direction of the Nation’s Hamburgers restaurant, is all we’ve been able to glean so far.
We’ll have more as additional details become available.
Desperation: Putting on a ski mask, nylon stocking, or false mustache while threatening a fellow citizen with a lethal weapon for a few dollars. See synonyms under pathetic.
Disconcerting if true.
Update?
Nothing at this hour, Dan… MPD still working it.
Should be interesting. If memory serves, the last time someone reported an armed robbery at this shopping center, it turned out he had made a completely false report and was charged with a crime for doing so: http://patch.com/california/lamorinda/moraga-armed-robbery-bogus-police-charge-victim
Any news on the “home invasion” on Via Granada or are the police remaining tight lipped?
Great memory, Drew… thanks for the link and we remember that case well. We were lucky enough to be able to talk with MPD’s Finest late last night and they had their poker faces on! No news to pass along or you could be sure we’d be doing it! Thanks for the post…
“with a victim saying they were held up by an armed man”
“a victim”, “They”? One victim? What kind of weapon?
Is the complaint starting to sound a little weak? Like the prior hoax? Any news?
No news on this one, David… We were told the initial report involved a black handgun. But, yes, there has been a resounding silence on this one since the initial report.
