Benicia Pursuit Results In Crash, Lockdown, Search Wednesday
A Benicia police pursuit of a vehicle west on I780 resulted in a crash at Glen Cove Road, the ejection of a female occupant, lockdown of a nearby high school and an ongoing search for a male suspect believed to be on foot in the area.
The incident was first observed at approximately 11:10 a.m. with police behind a vehicle west on I780, that car crashing and ejecting the female passenger.
Motorists report an ongoing search for another occupant, believed to be a male of unknown description, who fled the scene on foot. Nearby St. Patrick High School was locked down as the police search got underway.
Benicia PD blocked off I780 at Columbus Parkway with westbound traffic diverted to the Columbus offramp.
It was not immediately known what initiated the pursuit.
