BART service stopped early Wednesday morning between Concord and Orinda because of what the agency described as a “trackside” power issue for about 90 minutes, forcing hundreds of commuters onto established bus bridges to bypass the affected stations.
Around 5:10 a.m., the agency announced that service had been halted on the Yellow Line between the Pleasant Hill and Orinda stations, leading to major delays. Several minutes later, BART said service had been stopped between Concord and Orinda.
The agency did not mention a fire at a BART substation in Lafayette reported at 4:56am. This site reported a substantial ConFire response to the property at 1000 Circle Creek Drive, where crews reportedly found a breaker that had tripped and caught fire.

The substation was reportedly de-powered while firefighters worked to put out the fire. The nearby offramp from Highway 24 onto Pleasant Hill Road was closed to facilitate the movement of fire apparatus.
BART announced service was re-established between Orinda and Concord at approximately 6:40 a.m., about the time power was restored to the Lafayette substation.
Residual delays were reported throughout the morning.
