The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District (SRVFPD) today announced the retirement of Fire Chief Paige Wilson Meyer, who will conclude more than 30 years of service in fire service, emergency management, and public safety. Chief Meyer, who has served as Fire Chief and Treasurer since 2013, will retire effective January 7, 2026.
Chief Meyer noted that his final day of service holds special personal significance, as it coincides with his late mother’s birthday.
Under Meyer’s leadership, SRVFPD achieved long-term fiscal sustainability by eliminating all unfunded pension and OPEB liabilities, fully funding reserves and the Capital Improvement Plan, and earning a historic ISO Class 1 rating — placing the District among the very best fire agencies in the nation.
In a departmental release, Chief Meyer emphasized that success was rooted in trust, collaboration, and shared commitment.
“When you have firefighters who care deeply about their mission, a Board that is engaged and supportive, and labor partners who work collaboratively toward common goals, extraordinary things can happen,” he said. “I am incredibly proud of what this team accomplished together.”
Ahead of Meyer’s retirement, the SRVFPD Board of Directors has selected Jonas Aguiar, the District’s Deputy Chief of Operations, as the next Fire Chief. Chief Aguiar, a 20-year veteran of the organization, will assume his new role on January 8, 2026.
