A Dublin couple – Richard Lund and Asia Morton – have been arrested in connection with the murder of Mark Calcagni, general manager San Francisco’s famed Condor Club, who was gunned down outside his home in Santa Rosa Oct. 3.

Police in Santa Rosa said the couple are former employees of an adult entertainment club Calcagni managed and are suspected of shooting Calcagni after he returned home from work on October 3. The pair allegedly planned the murder together, according to police, though no motive has been given.

Lund, 43, and Morton, 25, were linked romantically and lived in Dublin.

Investigators allege Lund waited for Calcagni to return from work and shot him at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 3, Calcagni’s body discovered in a bike lane on Brookwood Avenue, near Birdfoot Way.

Detectives arrested Lund on Friday at a Dublin apartment complex on the 7500 block of St. Patrick Way. Police said Morton also lived there, but she was arrested at the San Francisco International Airport as she returned from a trip.

Police served a search warrant at the home to look for evidence related to the killing.

The Condor Club is a famed San Francisco club and is one of the city’s legacy businesses, opening in 1958 and gaining notoriety when waitress Carol Doda started dancing topless there in 1964.

Wry observation and dubious understanding of our methods and intent aside – we go where our readers want us to go. And we have many readers outside our stated area of coverage.

I like to think that most criminals are this stupid and will get caught and punished. Ok, perhaps it is wishful thinking, but this particular instance would seem to fit that script.
