We felt a news story developing and it materialized as a 3-acre grass fire Friday afternoon – the blaze briefly bumping up against homes in the area of Beacon Ridge Lane before air and ground crews were able to beat it down.
The blaze was reported shortly before 5 p.m.and attracted quite a bit of attention from residents and Flashers concerned by its progress. Incident commanders declared things under control at about 5:40p.m after repeated air drops and quick action by ground crews who moved into the area to protect homes.
Approximately 3-acres of grassland was lost. There were no immediate reports of any injuries.

Top-notch firefighting here. It’s much appreciated.
Small fires can get out of control so quickly. I saw the Oakland hills fire up close when it was a 10-foot wide smoke plume. Fifteen minutes later it had traveled a mile down the hill.
