A Pleasanton man has been taken into custody on suspicion of homicide in connection with a shooting in the city Friday night.
Lucas Chan, 29, was arrested after Pleasanton police responded to reports of a shooting in the 4600 block of Helpert Court at about 9:40 p.m., police said in a release. Officers found a victim, subsequently identified as the suspect’s father, suffering from gunshot injuries at the scene, police said.
Chan allegedly shot his 61-year-old father after verbal dispute, according to new details released by the Pleasanton Police Department.
Chan is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail and is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday.
Police said they searched Chan’s residence and allegedly found suspected improvised explosive devices, which were removed by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team. Police said there was no ongoing public threat.
