Firefighters helped make a special delivery in Walnut Creek Monday after a woman reported she was in labor, her baby was on the way and the hospital was still blocks away.

It took a bit but firefighters eventually found the car and woman in question pulled over in the 500 block of Ygnacio Valley Road at about 8:55p.m., assisting with the natural order of things as mother and Ma Nature worked things out and the baby – male and so far unnamed – arrived safely.

Mother and child were taken the rest of the way to the hospital by ambulance as police and firefighters shared grins and accounts of their latest exploit, something to share back at the firehouse and squad room and relatives began to check in here and via our social media pages.

Congrats to the happy family…

  1. Hello everyone! This is my incredible sister, Sandra Jacob Kelly. Her family is doing well and feeling very grateful. Sandra welcomed a healthy baby boy with a smooth delivery, and although he doesn’t have a name just yet, he’s already so loved. Thank you all for your heartfelt support during this exciting time, and a sincere shout-out to the first responders for their swift assistance. Baby boy certainly made quite the entrance!

    • Hey, Melanie and congrats to your family! Thanks for resolving the question of the hour and you should know there’s a bit of a contest underway as to naming possibilities.

Our best to all of you…
