Pursuit/Crash On Highway 24 In Lafayette Ends With Arrest/Injuries

SHARE

A vehicle fleeing police on westbound Highway 24 near Central Lafayette crashed into the center divide – its driver arrested at gunpoint – in a crash that brought westbound traffic to a near standstill for hours.

Traffic immediately ground to a halt as firefighters and emergency responders clawed their way to the scene. The Highway Patrol’s H30 helicopter was called in to airlift one person to John Muir Hospital.

Four children of various ages believed to have been riding in a minivan were not believed to have been injured. This site is attempting to confirm information that the car and children were the object of a Stockton area Amber Alert earlier in the day.

Days after the incident the CHP reportedly stated they were not in pursuit of the vehicle at the time of the crash, but that the operator was wanted for driving under the influence and endangering her children.
