Hammer-Wielding Robbery Crew Returns To Sunvalley Mall Wednesday
A crew of men armed with hammers smashed their way into display cases at a jewelry kiosk on the upper level of Sunvalley Mall in Concord Wednesday, escaping with an undisclosed amount of goods after pepper-spraying an employee while fleeing.
The theft was reported at 2:09 p.m. when employees of nearby stores reported hearing “gunshots” that turned out to be the sound of smashing display cases. Four black men in masks and hoodies broke into the cases before fleeing the store and escaping in a grey Honda Accord.
No serious injuries were reported during the blitz-style theft though an ambulance was requested to treat the individual doused with a chemical agent.
The Concord mall and others throughout the Bay Area have been repeatedly victimized by hammer-wielding robbery crews in recent years.

These must be the same guys that seem to come back every 3 months and do the same thing to a jewelry store at Sun Valley. Only they changed their car from a Mercedes to a Honda. I wish they would be caught!
Nordstrom, Macys, Saks, Walgreens(just to name the big guys) left San Francisco because they had to with rampant theft. There was no support from law enforcement and local politicians to back them up. If Contra Costa county wants to keep retailers and tax dollars here they need to catch and prosecute ad guys like this.
Looks like retail theft is still a thing.
This will continue until real prison terms are dished out. But, this is unlikely in liberal California.
