Charter bus passengers – 48 in all – were forced to bail out of their vehicle and into the rain Saturday after the rear quarter of the bus began to smoke and then burst into flame on I680 at Diablo Road in Danville Saturday night.
The unfortunate passengers abandoned the bus at approximately 8:53pm and spent the next hour or so huddled in the rain alongside the freeway, waiting to be shuttled to a temporary – dryer – holding area by a second bus dispatched to the scene.
Just a little crispy around the edges.
A gasoline fire, I would point out.
Important to extinguish – er, we mean distinguish – between possibilities these days, isn’t it? People are keeping count.
