ORIGINAL STORY:
Officers used drones and search dogs to look for a man later identified as Melvin Kibbee, 43, of Walnut Creek after Kibbee allegedly fired at another person at approximately 7:20 p.m., leaving the scene reportedly with a pit bull in tow. Police established a perimeter in the neighborhood and searched it for several hours, going yard to yard before settling on a specific residence believed to have been owned by the subject – described as a white male, 6′ feet tall, in a white t-shirt and jeans – but ultimately leaving the area empty-handed.

Neighbors said officers returned to the area at approximately 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, once again searching a target location on Sierra while a CHP helicopter orbited the area. Once again, the search was believed to be unsuccessful, police eventually withdrawing from the neighborhood.

Police said Kibbee was in custody on charges of Attempted First Degree Murder, Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, and Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition.
