Lamorinda police, county sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers coordinated a pursuit, spike-stripping and eventual foot chases after burglary suspects believed to have been armed and dangerous abandoned their smoking car and fled into the area near Veteran’s Hall.

A sheriff’s helicopter orbited the area of Woodbury Road and Mt. Diablo Boulevard and may have spotted one of the suspects hiding in the underbrush. One suspect was reportedly bitten by a police K9 as they were taken into custody.
Two men, Gustavo Ayala, 31, and Raul Cruz, 27, were taken into custody on an array of charges ranging from burglary to conspiracy to commit, weapons and eluding charges. Bail for Ayala was set at $1,040,000 with Cruz held on $845,000 bond.
Police were backtracking the route of the pursuit and chase in a search for evidence.
