Still in our News Jam Jams but brought up short by active fires in Orinda – with a 2-alarm residential fire burning on Las Palomas in Orinda and a vehicle fire engulfing a mini-van in Bore 1 of the Caldecott.
Occupants of the home on Las Palomas were located safe and well after firefighters descended on the residence, knocking down most of the blaze at 11:30 am. There were no reported injuries.
Also, on a busier than normal Monday, crews responded earlier to a reported head-on crash in the 200 block of Moraga Way. Several ambulances were called to that scene, reported at 8:09 with residents reporting significant traffic impact.
Following that incident, a minivan crashed into another vehicle in Bore 1 of the Caldecott and caught fire, drawing firefighters from both ends of the tunnel and stopping traffic in the eastbound direction until it was cleared.
In addition, retail thieves made off with a significant haul from a LensCrafters store in Concord; police chased another car north from Concord onto Highway 4 and numerous other crashes were reported – which we are tracking.
