A specific threat of an armed person on the campus at Moraga’s Campolindo High School brought police on the double Tuesday with officers conducting a thorough search of the school before it was determined similar phone threats had been made to other area schools.

The threats were similar in that they mentioned a specific, vengeful student armed with a specific type of weapon who was on campus and intent on inflicting harm. School officials in Moraga reacted immediately to the threat, coordinating with Lamorinda police and other outside agencies who responded to help deal with the perceived threat.

As this site was able to relate to dozens of frantic callers reacting to the sight of a large police presence on campus, no threat was ultimately  found and a check of school records determined that no student with the name given by the prankster was enrolled at Campolindo.

Police eventually concluded that the call was part of a widespread swatting incident scripted to provoke police response. Similar calls were made to schools in Piedmont, Palo Alto, and Cupertino Tuesday.
