  1. Putting good vibes into the Universe for the country and the world. Calming my nerves with reggae music. Hoping we do the right thing on the big one, as well as pony up on the local ones. Would be nice to get back to a place of respect for one another’s views, which I admittedly struggle with at times. Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

  2. Whatever happened to the conventional wisdom that our two-party system drives both parties toward the middle?

My hypothesis: The Internet happened. Our news sources profit by herding us into separate silos of fear, shielding us from the half of the news we don’t want to hear. The more fear and anxiety they create, the more clicks they get. It’s not exactly fake news (most of the items are true), but it’s half-news (by omission). There is no market for full news.

This shows every sign of continuing to get worse. Do yourself a favor and take a vacation from the half-news. Get outside with a friend, and talk about anything but politics.

    • Bloomberg and the WSJ do a fair job of curating relevant news. Their core readership pay moderate subscription fees and demand complete, objective coverage to inform commercial decisions. Their business models rely on subscription revenue, not monetizing clicks and eyeballs.

Aside from conspicuously labeled OpEds, both outlets generally eschew hyperbolic headlines and are refrain from amplifying the political soap opera.

  3. Can’t wait for this national embarrassment to be over. I still don’t know how this happened to us in the first place. It said something about the national mentality.

  4. We’ll either make history with our first woman president, or another four years of… I don’t know how to explain it.

  5. I’m thinking a lot of people are going to be mad and stomp their feet while a lot more people are going to breathe a sigh of relief.

  6. Just left my job in oakland. They’re boarding up some building in concern that if Trump were to win, the crazy left will be out rioting and looting. That kind of shows their character.
Then you’ve got Nancy Pelosi already out there flapping her gums that If Trump wins, they will torment him for his entire term at Fort every effort. That’s not very nice! Shows how the Democrat Party does not want peace or Unity but strife

    • You are kidding yourself if you don’t believe trumps goon squads were all ready for a violent reaction..if he lost. I personally am dumbfounded and disheartened by the results….but will accept them.

    • FTFY: Boarding up Oakland windows in case *Harris* won – the crazy right showed what they were capable of on 6 January 2021.

  7. The fact is we were all better off under Trump – big mouth and all. We did better as a nation at home, and a had a more stable World . No matter what the media tried to slant it away from that, the people have voted.
I’m actually happy. The far left has controlled things for the last 4 years and we need to get back towards the middle.

    • That is not a fact. Anyone with a mortgage in California was worse off at least economically under Trump. And the left that was in charge the last four years was anything but “far left”.

  8. I’m not surprised. The economy was better under Trump. And Americans are sick of the way the economy is. Let’s get this country back on track.

  9. Most Americans can’t find Europe on a map but the Europeans are scratching their heads over us this morning.

  10. Hope that their previous ‘respect’ for states’ rights remains intact, but that was probably illusory.

  11. US President 2024 or German Chancellor 1933. Whatever. Those are just temporary assignments. The wounds a dictator can inflict are different. Those last a lifetime, sometimes an abbreviated lifetime. A “dictator on day one” is what it is. If you love someone brown, protect them.
