Four-Alarm Blaze In Oakland Hills Burns Homes, Rekindles Memories

Firefighters are responding to a four-alarm fire near the freeway in Oakland at I-580 and Keller Avenue.

The blaze has claimed about four homes, forced evacuations and parks closures – including Anthony Chabot Regional Park. Aerial tankers, helicopters are at work and about 60 firefighters are currently battling the fire.

The City of Oakland issued an Evacuation Order from Mountain Bvld to Campus Drive:

These zones must EVACUATE NOW: OKL-E203, OKL-E176. People in these zones are in IMMEDIATE DANGER. This is a lawful order to leave now. These zones are now closed to public access.

  1. Thank goodness Oakland has not started to brownout stations.
    A delay in response and needing to special request for mutual aid would have delayed those times even more.
