A mixed group of young jewelry thieves allegedly tried their hand at a heist at the Target location at 1871 N. Main Street around 8:20 p.m. Saturday but – unlike other recent thefts – it didn’t go well as police moved in to make arrests.
The group was believed to have consisted mainly of juveniles though police were still in the process of identifying them as this is written.
Three young people and an older man were taken into custody not far from the store after attempting to reach a car they had parked nearby. Goods with an estimated value in excess of $1,000 were recovered.
Charges of organized retail theft are reportedly pending.
Probably the same crap-heads that hit Labels. Cars match…
Definitely not…dudes that hit Labels were in and out quick and definitely wouldnt come back 2 days later to try and steal jewelry from Target😂 first of all Target doesn’t have jewelry thats even worth wearing, let alon stealing it….
First let me say I totally believe in making an honest living and stealing from people that work hard and stores is not acceptable. But, at the same time this is the result of the systematic trap they have put blacks, minorities and other groups the government have put them in as well as the economy and cost of living here in California and around the world. In addition to them trying to eliminate the low and middle class by not providing them job opportunities and the chances to make an honest living. Bottom line people are resulting to doing whatever they can to support themselves and their families and the government needs to do something other than helping the rich get richer and the poor getting poorer. It’s almost like they are trying to kill people off by not providing opportunities, pay being to low and prices on food and living continuing to rise.
well said, Ms. Jones.
People like you that spew that bullshit it finding an excuse why people commit crimes and violate the rights of others is the problem. There are people that legally immigrate to this country in the last week who barely know the language and do not resort to crime. STOP WITH THE VICTIM MINDSET AND EXCHANGE FOR THE VICTOR MINDSET. You can always find an excuse for being a loser because winning in life takes hard work and perseverance. Unfortunately you sound like a loser too.
Those people bring in drugs and drug money they are just quite about it .
Well said!! No excuse for breaking the law. Everybody on this earth, especially ones who lived in CA has the opportunity tomorrow make something of themselves. To blame the high cost of living is another level of low life mentality. GTFOH with that mindset!!
There are
A lot of back and forth between commenter’s but that’s not a solution, even if was young and did stupid things, and it was the fact that I was scared to navigate life, working for what you get and hard work pays off, I think if their wasn’t so many restrictions on the application preventing people from getting hired then criminals wouldn’t commit crime, they would step out in the workplace and work for what they wanted, I’m only speaking from my own perspective, tell me what you? 🤔
excuses excuses , there is no excuse for stealing , and there are plenty of jobs out there right now . They are paying $20 an hour to fast food workers now . Give me a break , these thieves are looking for quick money , and dont want to work for it like everyone else .
Respectfully …I very much disagree. Stealing/theft should never be ok! There are plenty of opportunities, jobs and places that are hiring right now. Our society just wants the “easy way”. Theft is NOT an excuse or a reason. Work an honest job like everyone else…
1) Thou shalt not steal
2) Stay in school and get an education
3) Relocate to a more affordable location
My mom grew up poor during the Great Depression with no running water in the house and an outhouse in a freezing Midwestern state. Eight kids. Didn’t go to the doctor unless near death. Immigrant parents from Europe. My grandmother has “servant” as a profession coming to this country. They did not steal or harm others just because they were poor. You do a disservice to all the decent, hardworking poor who live each day with a moral compass. My mom worked hard, read tons of books, and educated herself even though her education during the war years wasn’t great. I never heard my mom complain about being poor or think she was less than others. She was generous and helped those in need later in life who had hardships.
This is how I was raised to. Never felt like I was owed anything didn’t feel less then life was good .today’s family’s no dad’s the I am entitled attitude
Tasha, Quit with the race card. I too am black and I hate when others blacks use this card. Get out and work hard if you don’t like your current economic situation, don’t go out and steal from others! You just make us all look stupid!
Regarding original post. Who is this “they” you are referring too?
The govt has gone above and beyond protecting lower skill and lower education jobs and even placed price floors for this job way above market.
Specifically in the hospitality industry, there are housekeepers in sf making $35 an hour 100% work subsidized health care for their whole family. There are servers and bartenders making 80-100k a year, front desk makes $30-40 and hour. We passed a law mandating $20 minimum wage for chain fast food restaurants but that has also driven wages for basically all restaurant workers to $20 plus tips.
There is no systematic oppression in California targeting race, and there are 100s of laws to ensure that doesn’t happen from housing, to employment to education.
Not make it political, but California has been super majority democrat run since 1996, so get out, attend city council, attend school board meetings and vote if you want your government to do better, could be from any party but if you don’t demand your representatives to do better, this “they” who is victimizing you won’t go away.
I’ve been here for a long time, and people are waking up to how many crimes are being committed the nature of their offense and who is committing them, and is probably why prop 36 will pass 60/40
That is a pathetic, ineloquent defense of stealing. If you are advocating for income equality, please stop, and find someone competent to speak for you.
Good catch LEOs !
I wish they can get the real organizer i.e big fish. Someone is paying them to risk freedom! Like the rich lady in San Diego who was living in a mansion and paying young people to steal make-up from all over the country and then selling it on Amazon . She had been doing it for many years ! (Fact check – Google)
Most thieves are lazy and they don’t want to work. You can hand them a good job but many of them won’t last. Could be because of drugs…
I so happy to read that the majority of the comments above indicate they do believe that there’s right and wrong. This gray area of explaining things away is what our trouble has been. People wonder why there’s issues with self-esteem. You build your own self-esteem by work and honesty- and then you feel good about yourself.
The tenor of the comments posted thus far is yet another illustration of where we are with polarization of views. Change in the current situation is desired, however some want “restorative change”-back to how things were; while others seek “progressive change”-away from the status quo. We need to find some common ground.
They say there were 3 juveniles, everyone tends to blame police, teachers and so on. Where in the hell are the parents, no one seems to not put the blame where it belongs. My son never went out and stole because he didn’t have money, my wife and I instilled in him a got work ethic and and education. Some parents would rather visit their kids in juvenile hall instead of a graduation ceremony.
It’s dollars to donuts these guys aren’t from Walnut Creek but are commutinge here to steal. We need to make that a less attractive option for them.
I live in Orinda, grew up on San Leandro and work in the Tenderloin. Every Day! Tasha, all I can say is really? Let us not forget that immigrants, like my grandfather, from Italy came here legally and were discriminated against. Know what he did? Got any job he could and progressed from there. (His first job was washing dishes in SF) No education. No government handouts. There are people in the TL who are battling addiction, coming out of incarceration….. that are hired to pick-up trash on these streets and are paid well enough to live and rebuild their lives. To say young people, let alone anyone has the right to take from others because someone or something is trying to keep them down is ridiculous. In 2007 I lost my job. Still had to feed my kids and pay my bills. I guess I should have started stealing, blamed corporate America and the government.
